Our good friend and BF3 supporter/painter/striper/panhead ridin fool Harpoon is a School Teacher for his full time job. Well it so happens that he teaches screenprinting and graphic design at SoCal's Diamond Bar High School. He has his best students in the top 50 running out of 1400 in a competition that Vans SHoes is putting on where the kids design art for four pairs of shoes. If they get in the top 5 Harpoon and his kids get to go to New York City for the finals!
PLEASE VOTE for Diamond Bar High School in Diamond Bar, California today! The deadline is this sunday.

Can't believe it either?

We packed up and headed to the Hippy Killer Hoedown the other week with the Born-Free Knucklehead. This picture by our friend Mark Kawakami sums up alot of the response we get from offering a Knucklehead for $25...shock and awe.
 

Thing to Do...

We are working on list of shops to go, place to hangout, eat etc.. for those coming in from out of town.The show will take up your day and the Dice party your night on Saturday and the Long Beach motorcycle swapmeet is on Sunday for those who want more chopper fun. We are excited to have Born-Free 4 at Oak Cayon Ranch tucked behind Irvine lake. It is hard to find Oak Cayon Ranch on a map but when you are on the road it is simple. What ever direction you are traveling to BF4 from these maps will get you there. These maps are not the most direct route coming from the East or the South but it keeps you off of toll roads.

By the people for the People-Born-Free

One of the main reasons we started Born-Free is to get everyone involved. To level the playing field and wipe the bike show slate clean for a new generation...or to reenvigorate the older generations which brought us all so much of the old bikes we look up to and use as inspiration. We want young and old alike to RIDE into Born-Free 3 and hopefully each can learn from the other. Time's have changed, but the love of motorcycles hasn't. Many of you out there have made great sacrifices to come to Born-Free between taking time off work to fly from all over the world to riding accross the USA and Canada and back with little no fanfare from us, you did it because we gave you an excuse to do so and it just so happened the reward of a great show was worth it. 
Keep it up, we couldn't do this without you. Born-Free can happen without you.

Even though we do have a short list of bike builders both pro, semi, and home builders that are part of a new showcase as part of the show, we know there are thousands of you out there that have been thrashing to get your projects done and road worthy to make the journey down the road to Born-Free 3.

While we are dinasours and aren't on Facebook, twitter, etc, there are many people out there trying to unite riders on their way to Southern California in about two months.
Check out Kris' Road to Born-Free blog. We've mentioned it before but he's doing just this and also featuring people building bikes to ride to the show.

Born Free After Party

Dice will be hosting an after the Born Free show party at Cooks Corner( about 7 miles from the show).Its a killer ride from Oak Canyon ranch to Cooks down scenic Santiago Canyon road.This road has it all ..including Law Enforcement..alot of Law Enforcement. So please refrain from speeding and getting crazy on the road or your trip could be ruined or ended too soon.They are also out looking for riders with too much beer on their breath..so be careful. Cooks Corner can accomadate a lot of bikers ( in and outside) and it's going to be really fun.We will have more from Dice soon.

Awkward Introductions// BF 3 Builder

Allow myself to introduce myself? Joshua P. Conley, the 3rd member of Born Free organization. I came to be a part of Born Free shortly after the first show. Realizing how special it was I jumped at the chance to contribute. At BF2 I was to head up the bike build and the beer. After much help from Mike, Grant, Shawn and many others we had a Panhead and after some help from Billy at Roscoe’s we had 2 pallets of PBR, mission accomplished. It really feels good to be part of something that brings people, friends and cool bikes together from all of the country and the world.

Now allow me to introduce BF3 invited builder Scott Craig. I hear many chopper builders and enthusiasts say “That was the bike that started it for me” Scott’s bikes have “Started” more peoples true passion for choppers then he would ever admit. He would however admit that it has been sometime since one of his creations has rolled off the lift. That will all change on June 25. I was able to snap a few preview shots of his near completed BF3 invited builder entry that is sure to inspire a few more people.

Born-Free Tour

Many of you are going to embark on your first, second, or third personal Born-Free tour this June as you ride, drive, or fly to Southern California to share one day of old motorcycles with many friends and not so strange strangers...
I was driving up the 405 this morning on the way to work and i was thinking about all the stuff i have to do today during the radio comercial break and my brain was blindsided by my truck's speakers which just blasted out in booming radio announcer voice "...Is starting on his Born Free Tour this summer!" i quickly tried to pay attention to who they were talking about. iot turns out that Kid Rock has an album out called Born Free! Looks like he'll be doing some promotion for us...thanks Kid!
So i pull up the video once i got to work and he's even riding a Harley in it...maybe he'll stop by!

....Are the old motorcycles and the guys who ride them from great distances....The fact that people want to ride from everywhere in this country to our event makes it worth doing.Giving away a Knucklehead is cool for sure but we have always preached it's about the people,their bikes and the stories that come from the Born-Free experience...that's what it's all about and that's why we do it.What is going on in World and especially in Japan reminds us that things change in the blink of an eye and you should do what you want and what you love before it's too late.

Michael Schmidt's New Garage Company Video on Born-Free

Doing Born-Free has been a lot of work, but it is great to see what people are willing to do to just help and beinvolved because they want to, like Michael Schmidt. You've seen his amazing pictures of the Born-Free Knuckle on here and on his BLOG which took a tremendous amount of work and money in obsolete Polaroid Type 55 film to do...which we couldn't pay for, but i think Michael was excited to shoot the bike because of itself and also for the show.
Well, the same is said for his unique video work which is patently his and looks like nothing else. He has been helping us with some of the local builders and such, and just got this one finished up on the Garage Company with some words from Yoshi and Kiyo on the bike and the Born-Free show. Thanks Michael!
